Business Woman of the Year
Delighted to have been awarded Business Woman of the Year at this year’s Highland Business Women Awards 2021.
After what’s been an unprecedented 18 months for us all through the pandemic.
Some of the points that gained me Business Woman of the Year are the values that I have built my business on are which I believe in are:
Inspiring marketing that delivers and to be..
Energetic and enthusiastic everyday
Up to date marketing knowledge
Continuously looking for new learnings
Commercially focused
Always works with a sparkle
Authentic, assertive, creative
These are all values that I live by every day in my leadership and communications.
While the past year has also brought my first international client and one of my proudest moments was launching and hosting a podcast for a client.
The skills I learnt from where to publish it, to editing and interviewing skills will stay with me.
The business has allowed me to grow personally and study for the CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing.
More importantly the business has created the lifestyle that I want and have been able to dedicate time to home schooling as I’ve had the flexibility to choose my hours and continue to run the business uninterrupted throughout the lockdowns.
In June 2021 I also launched a new business Wilder Waves as I’ve always wanted to create multiple sources of income and over the lockdown the idea of selling slogan t-shirts grew into starting a new business. With the clothing from sustainable resources and committed to ethical practices, I have created a brand that has a purpose, and that purpose is to support our oceans and raise awareness of what is happening to them.
I do all this whilst sourcing ready to wear items that are fit for my customers lifestyle and are easy and comfortable to wear. After all I just want to get on with creating great t-shirt designs too!
In the start-up year Wilder Waves will be donating 2% of all sales to Ocean Generation for every item our customer buys through Work for Good. This is just the beginning, I am actively working to contribute more as I grow the business.
Starting Wilder Waves has involved a huge learning curve in retail, design and launching my own brand, website and building sales however it’s given me a lot of freedom as well, to work with new partners.

Being a member of Highland Business Women has allowed me to develop an amazing network of leaders to share the ups and downs of running a business in the Highlands through the pandemic. There is all the advice and support you need within the membership or someone will know where to find it.
I really enjoyed connecting with other members and attending the online events over the last 18 months and looking forward to the online awards ceremony. The team at HBW have really kept the community in the membership strong and I know that once we’re back to in person events the community feel will continue.
